8 Types of Video Content You Should Be Creating

Blog posts, lead magnets, and email work wonderfully well for content marketing. They can help you generate traffic, leads, and sales. But if you want to scale up your content marketing you need to also be creating more videos.

As this study shows, people prefer consuming video over other types of popular content such as blog posts, newsletters, and social images.

It’s no wonder that it is expected that video will account for 82% of all traffic by 2022.

If you create more videos today and attract at least a fraction of this traffic, you will generate plenty of leads and sales. So, to help you get started, I have put together a list of video content ideas…

#1 How to tutorials:

A recent study found that the most popular type of video content that people want to see on Instagram is how-to tutorials.

People like watching videos like these because they focus on helping people.

So, create more how-to tutorials on a regular basis. Get yourself a good camera and record a video that answers your audience’s pressing concerns. Then assemble the different parts of the video using a good video editor

An example of a company that understands the importance of creating how-to videos is Ben and Jerry’s. If you visit their Instagram page you will find that they share a lot of helpful videos

They also throw in their products into the tutorial. This way they are both educating and selling to their followers.

#2 Screen recordings:

If you are running a Saas company or a different type of software company, you can share another type of how-to videos. These are screen recordings where you show people how to solve a problem like how SEMRush does here

You can also create more promotional videos where you only sell your product. But make sure you do that occasionally. The majority of your videos should be free helpful content. As they tend to attract the most views and followers

#3 Interviews:

A great way to freshen up your content is to invite an expert who has answers that your audience is looking for and then ask them all the questions. This way you will get some good content and the person being interviewed will get some exposure too. It’s a win-win situation. Many top experts will be ready to devote their time to this.

So, invite the top experts in your niche at least once a month. To find the best guests, you can just ask your audience who they want to listen to or find out what questions they have and then look for the most relevant expert.

#4 Video testimonials:

Written testimonials look great. But video testimonials or case studies where a person shares a detailed video of how you helped them achieve a result can look even more credible. As a live person is speaking, people will trust a video testimonial more. They can either do this alone or you can interview them and ask the questions.

An example is this video where the creator of an online course speaks to a person who took it and asks all the right questions.

But your video doesn’t need to look this slick. A simple video will actually look more realistic.

#5 Webinars:

People love watching live video. There are two ways to go about this. One is to do a social media live video. But a better way is to organize a webinar as you will generate both leads and sales with it. A good webinar will convert at a very high rate. That’s why 62% of businesses use it.

Webinars can look very complicated to run, but nowadays there are several top webinar software platforms that make it easier.

#6 Ads:

Videos ads generate 7.5x more clicks than regular videos. So, if you want to generate more engagement or sales on social media or other platforms you should go with video ads instead of still images.

You can actually follow a two-step process here. One would be to create an engaging content filled video which you use to drive more views. Once that is done, you can retarget the people who watch the video with an ad that promotes products.

#7 Product reviews:

Product reviews can also help with selling products. That’s the reason why networks like QVC exist. You can publish the same demo videos online too. But a better option would be to work with influencers. If an influencer recommends your products then it will look more credible. Like in this video from America’s Test Kitchen

#8 Repurpose blog posts:

If you are pressed for time and are new to creating videos, a better option for you will be to convert old blog posts into videos. This is where you simply take the content from your blog posts and convert them into videos with images or recordings. You will need to recite the wording form the content for the audio.

Conclusion:

These are the 8 different types of video content you should be creating. Creating even an hour of video can take a lot of time. But it is worth it. As you will generate a good amount of engagement, traffic, and leads from it.
