Word length matters

This is not the days of old. Today, word length matters in the world of SEO. In the old days bloggers would try to write 300-word articles to game the system. If you were to try this today you might end up getting a Google penalty for thin content. At the very least, your article should be 500. This is just cutting it. Most articles that rank on the first page of Google for certain keywords have a word count of at least 1000 words. With that said, I want to remind you that it is not about the word count. It’s about providing information for your readers. An article with 2000 words is more likely to have information that a reader needs than a thin article with 400 words. If you have thin content articles, don’t be discouraged. Go back to the article and add valuable information to help your readers. Not only will doing this help you to receive more loyal readers, but you will also rank better in Google as well because when you build content you are building keywords. Don’t miss out on the leads that you could be getting from older blog posts. You might be able to increase traffic going to certain page by 15%. Don’t neglect the word length of your posts.

 

Optimize your images correctly. 

Using images is a wise SEO strategy especially if you desire to rank in Google Images. However, the worst thing that you can do when it comes to image optimization is spam. Many bloggers do this when they try to rank for a certain keyword. A little goes a long way. Make sure that your image is not blurry and make sure that your image is not too large. There are many compression plugins that you can install to reduce the size of your image while still keeping the quality. The file name of your image should be short and straight to the point. Your Alt tag allows crawlers and site visitors to know what the image is. Your Alt tag is used to describe your image. Your Alt tag can be the title tag of your article. If you want, you can also add a caption. A caption is a small text under the image that gives a description of the image. The last thing to watch out for is copyright. All images that you desire to use should be free to use. If you can’t find free photos, then I recommend creating your own.

 

Write often

Many people don’t know that writing often is a successful SEO technique. There are so many benefits to posting often. One benefit is that your website will have fresh content in the eyes of Google. This might help you rank over bloggers who are not writing fresh content. Another benefit is that with more articles you will have more keywords to rank for. Most of the top bloggers are posting multiple times a week. Make time to blog more and I guarantee you that you will increase your site traffic by over 10% in a few weeks.
