In this post, we will be talking about the price of NBA 2K21.
Recently, Take-Two Interactive announced that the suggested price of NBA 2K21 will be $69.99. This is $10 jump from the standard pricing of AAA games.
With the revelation of the price, one thing is for sure that the next-gen games will cost more than what we are paying now.
The price increment represents the fair value of what you will be offered. It is said that next-gen games will offer more speed, power, and technology. That can only be provided on new hardware. Since the game is built from scratch for the upcoming gaming consoles, the price increase is justified. It is getting expensive to make graphics as technology is evolving continuously.
According to reports, the next-gen consoles will support 8K graphics and 3D audio, which increases the development costs.
Is the $10 Increase A Lot?
One of the first questions that come to our mind is if this cost is too much? Well, let’s be practical. For a long time, there has been no increase in the prices of games. It has been almost 15 years since we have been paying $60 for games. Technology has come a long way since then. More and more effort is being put into developing a game. So, keeping this mind, this price increase is not that bad.
In recent times, creating a game is expensive as production costs keep rising. To make up for the escalated production costs, publishers are increasing the cost.
Compatibility
When it comes to compatibility, the game will be available on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 consoles. Unlike Microsoft, the NBA 2K21 will not be a part of the play anywhere scheme. Also, the title will be released on existing consoles. No matter you buy a disc or download it digitally, the price will remain the same.
- For Nintendo Switch, the price will be $49.99.
- For Xbox One or PlayStation 4, it will cost $59.99.
Special Edition
For a tribute and celebrating the lifetime accomplishments of Kobe Bryant, a deluxe edition will be introduced, called Mamba Forever. The price of this edition will be £79.99 on Google Stadia and PC while £84.99 or $99.99 in the US for existing and next-gen consoles. For players who buy this edition on PS4 or Xbox One, they will get access to the standard version on PS5 and Xbox Series X and vice versa.
Bottom Line
Hence, NBA2K21 might increase the price of the game, which is a fair increment. The game publishers deserve it, after all, they go the extra mile to make unique and exceptional gaming content.
